The goal of the LiveWell Colorado Community Grants initiative is to create healthy communities where residents have access to affordable, healthy foods and where active lifestyles are encouraged and supported.
Together communities can work collaboratively to halt, and ultimately reverse, the increasing rates of overweight and obesity and the rise in preventable diseases, including diabetes and heart disease. This ambitious goal is achievable if community coalitions involve residents, stakeholders, and leaders to work on environmental, policy and infrastructure enhancements that focus on long-term sustainable change.
2010 Information
Several communities in Colorado have expressed an interest in LiveWell Colorado planning and mobilization grants for 2010. LiveWell Colorado is excited about the interest in promoting healthy eating and active living throughout the state and is committed to supporting initiatives at the local community level. In 2010, however, LWC will not fund any new communities, and instead will focus on supporting our 25 current grantees.
In the meantime, we encourage those communities interested in receiving LiveWell Colorado funding in the future to look to the funding opportunities posted on this page. These and other opportunities may help you move forward in addressing healthy eating and active living until the Community Grants Initiative is ready for expansion in the future.
