LiveWell Loveland

Loveland, Colo., is the "Gateway to the Rockies.” Just 30 miles west of town the main east-west thoroughfare through the city becomes Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Located next to Fort Collins in Larimer County, Loveland has approximately 60,000 residents. Loveland’s Thompson School District (TSD) has 28 schools – 18 elementary, 5 middle, and 5 high schools – with approximately 15,000 students.

Loveland is excited to be a LiveWell community to help address the need for healthy eating and active living in our area. The Health District of Northern Larimer County conducts a community-wide health survey every three years. The most recent data (2004) for Loveland residents shows:

  • 54% of adults are overweight or obese
  • 75% of adults eat fewer than five fruits/vegetables per day
  • 62% of residents do not get enough physical activity
  • 43% are currently modifying eating habits in order to lose weight

The LiveWell Loveland initiative is coordinated through CanDo – the Coalition for Activity & Nutrition to Defeat Obesity.
