Livewell Longmont

LiveWell Longmont is committed to the health and well-being of Longmont’s diverse business community. Longmont has been recognized by CNNMoney.com for being one of the top places to live, which is due in part to our vibrant business opportunities. LWL has facilitated the adoption of the Longmont Worksite Wellness Collaboration, and is helping to build, enhance and strengthen comprehensive worksite wellness programs for small, mid, and large scale employers. Our concentrated efforts have focused in two areas:

• Engaging and supporting our community’s employers in their worksite wellness efforts.
• Coordination of a wellness collaboration with the City of Longmont, Longmont United Hospital, and St. Vrain Valley School District.

The Longmont Worksite Wellness Collaboration is building, enhancing and strengthening the wellness programs for the Collaboration partners. Through this project, a comprehensive wellness plan is being developed and will be marketed to other employers to help lead this effort to address the health of the community and establish a community-wide culture of healthy eating and active living in Longmont. We have enjoyed the following successes:

• LWL Worksite Wellness Task Force:
  • The task force has provided a number of local employers with mini-grants and technical assistance to start employee wellness programs, and co-hosted three North Colorado Worksite Wellness Workshops.
    • Local employers provided with tools and resources
    • Easy to implement best practice wellness programs
    • Networking with workplace wellness leaders
    • Input from industry leaders on how to build a successful wellness program
    • Opportunity for Longmont employers to highlight program successes
  • In 2011, the task force partnered with the Longmont Chamber of Commerce to host four “Healthy Hour” networking and education events.
    • 40 Longmont area employers and wellness vendors in attendance
    • Introduction of the Colorado Worksite Wellness Framework and associated toolkit providing employers with tools and resources to help develop or expand their worksite wellness programs.
    • LWL has assisted nine Longmont businesses with receiving mini-grants or technical assistance to help establish or expand worksite wellness programs:
      • Longmont United Hospital
      • Ed & Ruth Lehman YMCA
      • The OUR Center
      • Flagstaff Academy Charter Elementary
      • The Town of Mead
      • Cinnamon Park Assisted Living
      • Abound Solar
      • Front Range Community College
      • The Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce. 
• LiveWell Longmont has been partnering with Longmont United Hospital, the City of Longmont, and St. Vrain Valley School District to create a collaborative, sustainable, and results-oriented comprehensive worksite wellness program that will become a model for other Longmont area employers.
