Colorado kids get at least 30% of their daily calories from the lunches they eat at school, which makes it critical for those meals to be healthy and nutritious. LiveWell Colorado's School Food Initiative works with school districts across the state, providing culinary trainings, on-site chef consultant support and strategic and culinary action planning for food service directors so that they can prepare delicious meals that kids love and that meet or exceed the USDA nutrition regulations.
We invite you to join us at our 5th annual fundraising luncheon to learn more about this program and how you can help us create a healthier Colorado. The menu featured at this event will be chosen at a cooking competition between school lunch professionals. Similar to the student competitions of past luncheons, the 2014 EatWell@School luncheon will challenge teams of 3-4 individuals to create a healthy and delicious school lunch—1 entrée and 2 sides—that follows the USDA regulations, incorporates a local food item and costs less than $1 to make.
The meals will be judged by a panel of high school students and adult chefs, and the winning team's school district will receive $1,000 to be used toward kitchen equipment or upgrades. Funds raised by this event will support LiveWell Colorado's programs and initiatives, including the LiveWell@School Food Initiative.
Can't make it to our luncheon? You can still make a donation online.
