A western Colorado native, I have worked as a non-profit consultant and grant writer for the last 15 years during which I have helped many non-profits raise money for their daily operations, special projects and capital campaigns. I am a University of Denver graduate where I studied communications. I am married with two daughters, ages 8 and 10. We are a busy family on the go; my youngest is a gymnast and my oldest is a competitive swimmer.
I am a regular blogger for Fruita Moms, a resource and connection place for women. My weekly posts (published every Tuesday) discuss meal planning, preparation, recipes and shopping information for the busy family. My blogs are also featured on Moms Everyday, a nationally syndicated resource website.
Three years ago I was diagnosed with a severe gluten intolerance, and this year both my daughters were diagnosed as well. We have made some life changes that have led to a whole new adventure of preparing healthy, gluten-free meals that still taste like family favorites. Living gluten free can be challenging, especially on the road, but worth the commitment to keep my family healthy and happy so we can do the many activities that we love!
When not acting as CEO and resident taxi driver at the Cawood household, I like to swim laps, stay up too late reading, and bake (preferably desserts that involve chocolate). I am excited to join the LiveWell Mom’s community and look forward to connecting with other families committed to active, healthy lifestyles.
