LiveWell Weld County

Steps to a Healthier Weld County was formed in 2004 through the Steps to a Healthier US initiative. As funding for this federal initiative ended in 2008, the Weld County Health Department program received funding from LiveWell Colorado for a few years to continue its obesity prevention efforts.

Today, Healthy Weld 2020 continues to build upon the foundation of readiness for lasting healthy behavior changes laid by the previous grants. The program addresses the root causes of excess weight and obesity by creating environments that make it easier for residents to make healthy choices around food and physical activity. The group approaches its work with the understanding that in order for the residents of Weld County to take empowered roles in improving their health, they must have convenient and affordable access to healthy, fresh foods and safe active community environments.
