LiveWell West Denver
The Westside Healthy Exercise and Nutrition (WHEN) coalition was formed in 2006 as a partnership with six West Denver neighborhoods that included schools, neighborhood associations, parks and recreation departments, local police, community and city-wide organizations, universities and city council members. The goal of the coalition was to promote physical activity and healthy eating in the West Denver community. In 2007, the group received funding from LiveWell Colorado and was rebranded as LiveWell West Denver.
The coalition played a critical role in the campaign to make the Safe Routes to School program a priority for the entire city of Denver and helped catalyze the Healthy Hospital Compact. While LiveWell Colorado funding ended in 2013, the coalition continues to work on Safe Routes to School efforts.
